Geography
The city of Jaipur is capital to the colorful state of Rajasthan. The city would have been the part of the great Thar Desert, but for the Aravalli Hills that provides it with the much needed security from one side.
It is about 405 kilometers from Udaipur, 232 kilometers from Agra, 350 kilometers from Gwalior and 258 kilometers from Delhi. Jaipur is well connected with major parts of the country and easily accessible by air, road and rail.
Climate
Situated at an altitude of 431m above sea level, Jaipur has an extreme type of Climate with hot and humid summers and chilly winters.
Jaipur weather becomes scorching during the summer months with shining sun on the head whereas winters are comparatively cool. However, the nights in winters are bitterly cold.
The summer season persists from Mid-March to June reaching to the maximum temperature of 45°C and 25.8°C at night. The showers of Monsoons come usually in the month of July. But the weather of Jaipur does not give much relief during monsoons as rainfall is a bit scanty in this place. During the post-monsoon season in September, Jaipur gets hot once again. Winters dominates the land of Jaipur from the month of October till the month of March. In winters, the city of Jaipur observes bright and pleasant sunny days, though the temperature dips below 5șC during the nights.
Frequent problem in winter season is fog that envelopes the whole city in the evening. The best time to visit Jaipur is during winters, when the weather is pleasant and very favorable to travel around the royal city of Jaipur.

Paper notes of rupees 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 500 are in circulation.
Coins of 1, 2 and 5 rupees are used.
Do not accept a grubby note, but insist on having it exchanged for a newer one, since others might refuse accepting it from you. Have a big supply of small bills as most stores don't carry sufficient change.
Credit Cards
American Express, Diners Club, Mercard, Master Card and Visa are accepted by large establishments, but it is still wise to carry Indian currency. Credit cards can be used to get cash advances in rupees. |
